Cases related to local levels flooding CIAA

Pokhara, October 10

Chief Commissioner Nabin Kumar Ghimire of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority today said cases of financial anomalies related to local levels had poured in at the anti-graft body of late.

Laying the foundation stone of the CIAA office building in Pokhara, Ghimire stated that CIAA was flooded with cases of local levels after their formation. “Rise of corruption in the local levels is failure of democracy,” Ghimire said, adding, “Caution has to be maintained in the local, provincial and federal levels. CIAA will keep its eye on all three layers of the government.”

Ghimire argued that only efficient delivery of services to the locals can give the feeling that the government has reached their doorsteps. “Government employees and people’s representatives have to work honesty for good governance in the country,” he added.

Ghimire said CIAA’s sole efforts would not suffice to reduce corruption in the country. “People’s help is a must to minimise corruption,” he added.
