Certificate seized three days after being sworn in as ward chairperson

Three days after a female candidate was elected as ward member, an election officer seized a certificate from her saying that she was defeated in the polls in Nawalparasi.
Election officer Harilal Puri had announced Nepali Congress candidate Binda Nepal winner as a member at Ward No 2 of Binayi-Triveni Rural Municipality. After she was declared winner, Binda took part in the victory rally. Surprisingly, Nepal was informed that she was routed in the polls on the third day.The office of election officer had administered oath of office to all victorious candidates and distributed certificates to them on May 18.
After the results, NC leaders and cadres had reached the village to celebrate poll victory. Murari Ghimire, who was elected as ward member, said an assistant from the election office was sent to take back the certificate from Nepal the same evening.
The election result was announced in the presence of representatives from all parties. After the UML cadres staged protest and locked the polls office, election officer had re-examined the result and announced UML candidate Pushpa Ale the winner.
