RAMECHHAP, MAY 15
Ramechhap district has been facing shortage of cetamol, an important medicine for seasonal ailments.
Medicine suppliers say the district is experiencing scarcity of paracetamol as the drug is also in short supply in Kathmandu. "The district is likely to face cetamol scarcity as the drug in stock is running out, and we are not able to bring cetamol from Kathmandu," said Proprietor Mohan Shrestha of Dil Shree Medical Hall.
Basant Sapkota of a pharmacy located in Manthali said he had failed to provide the medicine to patients. "Most of the pharmacies in Manthali do not have paracetamol," added Sapkota.
The shortage of paracetamol has made rural folks fearful in rural areas of the district.
Most of the medicines are brought to the district from Kathmandu. Medicine retailer Mohan Shrestha said he could not bring the drug as it was in short supply in Kathmandu too.
Mina Thapa, a staffer at Tamakoshi Hospital, said that they were able to provide medicine to patients so far, but if the shortage continued for some more days, we would also run out of stock.
