Chair Oli bats for uniting communist parties

JHAPA: Prime Minister and ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) co-chair KP Sharma Oli has urged all active communist parties to participate in a party merger process in a bid to make a single communist party in the country.

Speaking in a programme organised to commemorate the death anniversary of communist leaders killed during the Panchayat era in Sukhani of Jhapa district here today, chairman Oli said that the martyrs’ dream could be materialised with unity.

PM Oli who had taken part in the ‘Jhapa Rebellion’, among other leaders visited Sukhani Park and offered tributes to the martyrs and expressed commitment to bring popular programmes to benefit the common people.

Speaking in the same programme, another chair Pushpa Kamal Dahal said that the recent NCP was made with the fusion of then Jhapa rebellion and Maoist movement in the country.

He also shared that the party merger process will get concrete shape within a few days.

Ramnath Dahal, Netra Ghimire, Biren Rajbanshi, Krishna Kuinkel and Narayan Shrestha were executed in the jungle by a firing squad on March 4, 1973.
