KATHMANDU, DECEMBER 1

Most parts of western side of Nepal are bracing to witness weather changes starting this evening due to westerly trough and the low pressure system that is developing over Southeast Arabian Sea as a result of cyclonic circulation, Meteorological Forecasting Division has shared through the special bulletin.

The system will gradually move eastward from Sudur Pashchim to Karnali, Lumbini and Gandaki Provinces.

Weather today is generally to mostly cloudy in Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudur Pashchim Provinces and partly to generally cloudy in rest of the areas, while light rain is likely to occur at one or two places of Gandaki, Lumbini, Karnali and Sudur Pashchim Provinces.

There are also chances of light to moderate snowfall at a few places of the western high mountainous regions, the division said.

The same weather forecast goes for tonight, except for Lumbini Province.

Due to this weather system currently developing at Arabian Sea, there is a possibility of medium to heavy snowfall in high mountainous and hilly regions and light rain in lower hilly and tarai regions of most of Sudur Pashchim, Karnali, Lumbini, Gandaki and Bagmati Provinces from Wednesday.

These changes will bring drop in temperature in coming days, the bulletin shared.

The weather system will start to weaken from Friday.

The Division has asked everyone to stay cautious and remain alert and has especially warned those climbing mountains and travelling through air to take extra precaution.

Similarly, the Tarai fog/cold wave bulletin from the Division has shared that Lumbini Province and Province 1 remain foggy today. It elaborated that the weather will gradually improve by the day.

The two provinces had visibility of 2000 m each from Bhairahawa station and Biratnagar station this morning.
