KATHMANDU, FEBRUARY 10

Meteorological Forecasting Division in its latest bulletin shared that cold weather has not receded yet and people need to take caution in high mountainous and hilly regions as well as in the Tarai regions.

According to the MFD, the high altitude areas await the possibility of light to medium snowfall while foggy mornings in the Tarai region could disrupt everyday activities.

The westerly wind had re-entered Nepal on Tuesday and hence the effects of the same are apparent since Wednesday morning. The weather was relatively warm on Tuesday. This system will generally shift away tonight.

Despite these changes in the weather, the chance of rainfall remains low in general. As per officials at the division, the country hasn't received enough winter rainfall this year. There has been as much as 1.3-millimetre rain this winter season while the average rain in winter is recorded at 14 millimetre.

The weather on Wednesday is partly to generally cloudy throughout the country. There is some possibility of light rain at a few places of hilly regions with chances of light to moderate snowfall at some places of the high mountainous region.

Similarly, the weather at night could get partly to generally cloudy in Province 1, Province 2, Bagmati Province and Gandaki Province and partly cloudy in the rest of the country. Chances of light rain are possible at a few places of the hilly regions of Province 1, Bagmati Province and Gandaki Province with the possibility of light to moderate snowfall at a few places of the eastern and central mountainous regions.

The lowest minimum temperature in the country is reported in Jumla with 2.4 degree Celsius, Taplejung 6 degree and Kathmandu 6.4 degree.
