DHANKUTA, JANUARY 20

Dhankuta’s Chhatharjorpati Rural Municipality has decided to help people run new businesses.

“The programme for providing loan to people to run businesses in their own villages has been quite effective here,” said the rural municipality Chairperson Ser Bahadur Limbu, adding that most of the loan has been given in the agriculture sector — for vegetable and fruit farming and animal husbandry.

Chhathar Rural Municipality has provided 2.827 million rupees without any interest to 17 agro firms in the rural municipality that has a total of six wards.

The beneficiaries are required to return the borrowed amount within one to five years from the date of borrowing.

This year, 25 farmers have benefited from the programme that was launched last year.
