Chicken becomes dear as Dhaulagiri bans poultry import
PARBAT: After bird flu was confirmed in neighbouring Kaski district, import of poultry products has been prohibited in the districts in Dhaulagiri Zone since yesterday.
Dr. Sudhir Thapa, the chief of Parbat District Livestock Office, said the ban was a precautionary measure to prevent the spread of bird flu from Kaski as poultry products and feed are brought to Dhaulagiri Zone via Pokhara-Baglung road.
Supply of poultry, approved by veterinary doctors, was allowed into Parbat till Monday.
With the ban, the price of chicken has soared from Rs 360 to Rs 440 per kg in the district.
