Chief Minister Pokharel presents Province 5 budget in assembly

The Province-5 government unveiled its budget today.

The 1.0205 billion rupees worth budget meant for the remaining three months of the current fiscal was presented at a meeting of the provincial assembly by Chief Minister Shankar Pokharel a day after the provincial government had presented a status paper reflecting the scenario of the province.

“As we didn’t collect revenue for the current fiscal, the budget this time has been brought on the basis of grant provided by the federal government,” said Pokharel, adding the budget includes 60-point policy and programmes.

Of the total budget, Rs 363.3 million has been allocated for current expenses, while Rs 340.6 million has been allocated under the heading of capital expenses. Remaining 313 million-plus rupees is set aside for reserve fund.

Spokesperson for the Province 5 government and Minister for Physical Infrastructure Development Baijanath Chaudhary said the budget was presented as per the federal government’s directive to do the same by the end of the Nepali month of Chaitra.
