ROLPA: The rate of child marriage in the southern region of Rolpa district has been found declining. A study carried out recently by the Human Rights Awareness Centre, Rolpa, reported.

The study was carried out in Ghartigaun, Talabang, Korchabang, Gairigaun, Jaulipokhari, Jedbang and Kerati VDCs in the district.

Now, the child marriage rate is 46 per cent in 2016 in comparison to 48 per cent in 2014, said Raju Acharya, an Executive Director at the Centre.

Programme Coordinator of the Centre, Kumar Pokharel said that the child marriage rate has decreased due to the effect of awareness programme, door to door campaign, public hearing and livelihood improvement programmes organised in the villages.
