PANCHTHAR: A ten-year-old boy was swept away by a flooded river in Miklajung Rural Municipality-4 of Panchthar district on Friday morning.

Diyan Rai, son of Lok Bahadur Rai of Khesangkhopa in Miklajung Rural Municipality-4, was swept away by the flooded river while going to school, according to Panchthar District Police Office (DPO).

Search and rescue operation is being carried out to find the missing child, said chair of Miklajung Rural Municipality Amar Makhim.

The continuous downpour is affecting the search operation, informed chief at Panchthar DPO, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Narendra Kunwar.

Rai is currently studying in Grade 4 at Holy Child English School in the area.
