Child preyed by leopard, kin receive relief fund

DAMAULI: Kin of 6-years-old Bishal Shrestha of Bhanu Municipality in Tanahaun have been handed over a relief fund of NRs 50000 after he was devoured by a leopard on Wednesday night.

According to Assistant Forest Officer, Babu Ram Upreti informed that the victims family were provided the relief amount as funeral expenses. Moreover, the law has a provision to compensate kin of those killed by wild animal attack with a maximum of NRs 1million.

It has been said that, after the incident, a team from Jawalakhel Zoo ran a search operation to tranqualise the wild beast and bring it to Kathmandu. However, the team returned empty handed.
