KATHMANDU, MAY 26

The People's Republic of China has committed to provide a million doses of Covid-19 vaccines to Nepal under grant assistance.

Ambassador of China to Nepal Hou Yanqi announced on her social media page that China will provide the aforementioned doses to Nepal on grant.

Taking to Twitter following President Bidya Devi Bhandari's telephone conversation with her Chinese counterpart President Xi, Yanqi said Chinese President Xi Jinping has announced that China will provide 1 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines to Nepal under grant assistance.

President Bhandari held almost an hour long telephone conversation with Chinese President Xi Jinping, today. During the conversation, Bhandari relayed to President Jinping that Nepal is looking forward to purchasing China manufactured vaccines for its people. She made an appeal to the Chinese government to make the vaccines available for procurement at the earliest possible.

Meanwhile, she also wrote to her Indian counterpart President Ram Nath Kovind to help Nepal in regard to the interruption in supplies of COVID-19 vaccines.
