China's border concern
KATHMANDU: Chinese officials travelled to border areas in Nepal and asked local authorities to tighten security to stop the flow of Tibetans slipping from China into Nepal, officials said on Monday. Shree Krishna Shrestha, chief government administrator in Dolkha district in northern Nepal, said a team of Chinese officials from the embassy in Kathmandu met them over the weekend and asked for increased police patrols on border roads, jungles and towns to stop Tibetans from entering Nepal. The Chinese officials said they were concerned about reports of increased number of Tibetans fleeing China. Several Tibetans have been detained in Nepal in the past few weeks.
