Chinese firm Sinohydro gets MWSP tender

The Melamchi Water Supply Development Board has signed a tender for construction of the ‘headworks’ at the source of Melamchi Water Supply Project with China’s Sinohydro.

It has signed the tender agreement with the Chinese company Sinohydro to construct the headworks.

The company won a contract for completing the remaining works of the construction of a tunnel under the MWSP. According to Board information officer senior divisional engineer Rajendra Prasad Panta, the deadline for completing the construction works is 15 months and it is expected to cost Rs 1.2 billion. The company will carry out a field study and begin work in the next 15 days.

The Sinohydro was awarded the contract of constructing remaining tunnel works after the Italian Company CMC fled from the country without completing the project last year.
