Hetauda, February 22

A team of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority today arrested jailer Madan Adhikari at Regional Jail Bhimphedi Office with Rs 75,000 in Makawanpur.

The team deployed from CIAA’s regional office Hetauda had arrested jailer Adhikari from his official residence. Acting on a tip-off that Adhikari had sought Rs 75,000 from prison guard Daniel Lama, the anti-graft team had reached the prison.

CIAA regional office Hetauda chief Humkala Pandey said that Adhikari was caught and kept at its regional office.

According to Pandey, jailer Adhikari had sought the bribe money with prisoners’ guard Lama and threatened to transfer him elsewhere if he did not pay the bribe money. Lama had arranged money to stop his transfer.

After Lama’s relative field a complaint at the CIAA branch office, a team led by Deputy Superintendent of Police Keshav Bhattarai had reached the prison. Deputy Secretary Dev Kumar Rai at the CIAA Regional Office Hetauda said Adhikari was caught while he was receiving bribe money at his residence.
