CIAA grills Mandal, Niranjan
Kathmandu, May 28:
The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) today interrogated two kingpins of the royal regime, Badri Prasad Mandal and Niranjan Thapa, for alleged misuse of state treasury.
Mandal is a former Deputy Prime Minister and Thapa is a former minister.
During the interrogation today, the two ministers claimed that they were collectively responsible for decisions passed by the King Gyanendra-led cabinet, but claimed that they did not do anything illegal.
The two ministers claimed that they had acted as per the demands of the situation.
The anti-corruption agency quizzed them based on the report prepared by the Commission led by former Supreme Court Justice Krishna Jung Rayamajhi, which investigated into the loss of life and property during Jana Andolan II.
