CIAA indicts forensic expert

Kathmandu, December 2:

The Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) today issued a written order to the BP Koirala Institute of Health Sciences (BPKIHS) to immediately suspend Dr Bishwonath Yadav for allegedly pocketing the amount meant for post-mortem of bodies.

Dr Yadav allegedly collected post-mortem fee for 18 bodies even on

the days he did not attend the office. An initial investigation shows that the doctor had taken the amount claiming his performance of the service on the 18 bodies between 7 November 2007 and 28 April 2008, at a rate of Rs 3,000 per autopsy.

“We are shocked to hear that a doctor indulges in such a mean act,” Acting Chief Commissioner of the CIAA Lalit Bahadur Limbu said, “It is mandatory for a doctor to attend the office to perform an autopsy.” Evidence showed he was absent in the office on the said days.
