CIAA raids Nepal Telecom's office in Birgunj

BIRGUNJ: Commission for Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) has raided a unit of Nepal Telecom regional office in Birgunj, yesterday evening.

CIAA indicated that a three-member team from Hetauda led by an investigation officer raided the telecommunications office, following which they took some files and documents under control.

Chief at the Ghantaghar-based telecommunications office in Birgunj, Ram Kailash Pandey, said that the CIAA team asked him some questions, after which they took the documents as part of the investigation process.

It has been learnt that the Commission raided the Birgunj telecommunications unit to investigate matters related to memorandum submitted by Nepal Telecom Workers Union on June 19 to the regional director of the telecom company Pratul Sarkar, citing irregularities in offices under the purview of the regional office.

The memorandum submitted by Pooran Sah-led workers union mentions that there has been irregularities in the use of office supplies, transfer of employees, among other issues.

Meanwhile, the investigation team said that the raid was carried out as part of their inspection process.
