DHANGADI, NOVEMBER 28

A week after his mysterious death, the body of Narasingh Bista of Darchula remains in the district hospital as his kin are calling it a murder and demanding action against the guilty.

A resident of Dokat, Ward No 4 of Byas Rural Municipality, Bista, 35, had gone missing the night before election, on November 19.

His body with injuries all over was found the next day in a rivulet near his home. It is suspected that an unknown group beat Bista, a hotelier in Khalanga, to death. His body has been kept at the district hospital for post-mortem.

The deceased's kin have, however, refused to receive the body, seeking action against the 'murderers'. They have accused the ruling coalition of killing him. Locals, who were surprised after he didn't show up to cast vote on election day, carried out a search and found his body.

According to locals, cadres of Nepali Congress and CPN-MC had reached the village on the night before election. The same night someone had torched a motorbike belonging to former chairperson of the rural municipality Dilipsingh Budhathoki. Police have failed to find persons involved in this incident too.

District Police Office, Darchula, Chief DSP Tarkaraj Pandeya said further investigation into the incident was under way, and initial investigation showed that it was a murder.

While police have started their investigation detaining a few youths, a team from the Central Investigation Bureau has also reached the incident site to carry out investigation.
