Civil Service Bill may be tabled in House today

Kathmandu, August 2:

The Parliamentary Administration Reform Monitoring Committee is likely to finalise review of the Civil Service Bill tomorrow and present it to the Parliament for endorsement.

Enactment of the act will pave way for automatic promotion of some 10,000 civil servants on the basis of experience and academic qualifications.

The act is also expected to ensure transparency in promotion of civil servants.

According to MP Sarat Singh Bhandari, who is also a member of the parliamentary committee, the bill will ensure the right to form trade unions by the civil servants. “The Civil Service Bill will ensure union rights of civil servants under the act itself rather than under the Labour Act,” Bhandari told this daily.
