DHANGADI, OCTOBER 28

CPN-Unified Socialist Chairperson Madhav Kumar Nepal has said no discussion has been held so far among parties in the coalition government about impeaching Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher JBR.

"I've been out the Capital in recent days. Neither we the coalition partners have held any discussion about impeaching the chief justice nor has there been any meeting," said the CPN-US chief, speaking to journalists at Dhangadi airport today.

His comment came at a time when calls for the resignation or impeachment of the chief justice are being raised.

Just a few days ago, UML chair KP Sharma Oli had also called for the resignation of all justices who had ordered the reinstatement of the Parliament.

Commenting on Oli's demand, Nepal described it as senseless and wrong.

"His remarks are an outcrop of his tendency to dismantle and destroy the existing systems," Nepal observed.

Recently, calls for the resignation of the chief justice have been rife over the allegation that the CJ sought a post in the Cabinet for his relative.

While the justices of the apex court have called for his resignation by boycotting the bench, Nepal Bar Association has also declared an agitation against the chief justice.
