Lamjung, May 27

Preparations to have close circuit cameras installed in Lamjung’s district headquarters Besishahar kicked off from yesterday in the district.

Lamjung Chamber of Commerce and Industry had signed an agreement with Advanced Techno Pvt Ltd for the project on Tuesday. Krishna Jung Gurung and Bijay Neupane signed an MoU on behalf of the district Chambers of Commerce and Advanced Techno respectively.

Chambers of Commerce initiated the campaign with funds collected from the first Besishahar Festival. The CC cameras will be help curb incidents of theft, burglary and other criminal activities in the headquarters.

“As many as 35 CC cameras will be installed in different locations of the bazaar to ensure stronger security. Because we don’t have sufficient budget to install all the cameras at once, we will be adding them gradually.

We plan to install at least 12 cameras in the first phase, nine in the second, and 14 in the third. The device will cost at least Rs one lakh each,” Gurung said.

District Police Office is the control centre of all the activities. Locals hailed the initiative of Chamber of Commerce and Industry.
