Close shave for aircraft
NEPALGUNJ: A plane of Sita Air —9NAHA — met with an accident at Nepalgunj airport today.
The plane was dragged about 200 metres after a wheel came off the plane during the test flight, a Civil Aviation Authority of Nepal staffer said.
The plane caught fire shortly after as a result. Three crew members aboard the plane are safe and sound.
According to Nepalgunj CAAN chief Suresh Ajad, the incident caused the scheduled flight of prime minister to Kathmandu to be cancelled.
PM Madhav Kumar Nepal had to stay in Nepalgunj today.
His press advisor Bishnu Rijal said the PM Nepal was in a hurry to attend a cabinet meeting in Kathmandu tomorrow.
