BIRATNAGAR: Chief Minister of Province 1 Sherdhan Rai has directed the concerned bodies to stop the deforestation in Charkoshe Jhadi of eastern Tarai.

Chief Minister Rai issued such a directive after finding the trees of Charkoshe Jhadi being cut down haphazardly in the name of scientific forest management.

The Chief Minister directed the Chief District Officer of Morang, Ram Prasad Acharya, to stop the deforestation. A meeting has been called for Sunday in order to hold further discussions with stakeholders in this regard.

In a different context, Social Development Minister of the Province, Jeevan Ghimire, directed the private schools to provide 10 per cent scholarship compulsorily to students from next academic session.

At a programme organised by Consumers Welfare Protection Forum Nepal here on Friday, the Minister shared that the Ministry made various decisions to control evil and aberration that have surfaced in the private schools.
