CM Raut casts doubt over apex court’s role

RAJBIRAJ, JANUARY 16

Province 2 Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut today said though the Supreme Court verdict should be acceptable, circumstances in which the Parliament was dissolved were suspicious.

Addressing the 10th General Assembly of Saptari chapter of Federation of Nepali Journalists at Banarjhula of Tilathi Koiladi Rural Municipality, CM Raut held that there was enough room to suspect the verdict to be given by the apex court in relation to house dissolution.

Raut suspected that dissolution of the House of Representatives due to intra-party conflict might put republicanism, federalism and inclusiveness in peril.

Raut commented that Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and his party had betrayed the trust placed on them by the people in the last parliamentary polls. He slammed Oli and his party for failing to meet people’s needs and aspirations.

He sounded an alarm that current political stalemate had increased the chance of losing the political achievements gained through various struggles.

“This government had a near two-thirds majority. It missed a great opportunity for ushering in development and prosperity in the country,” Raut stated. He asked journalists and media persons to be responsible in defending the political achievements gained through various struggles.
