CM Raut pledges to protect cultures

Province 2 Chief Minister Lalbabu Raut today said the provincial government would protect and promote endangered religions and cultures of people from different communities living in Tarai/Madhes.

Inaugurating a week-long Samachakewa and Kartikesh Kuwar festivals in Chandrapur, Rautahat, CMRaut expressed worry over the disappearance of cultures and festivals of certain communities citizens owing to the lack of protection from the state.

He held that it was the responsibility of the state to protect and promote religions and cultures. He argued that the government’s indifference had pushed many religion and cultures to the brink of extinction.

CM Raut pledged to treat everybody residing in Tarai equally and safeguard their cultures, religions and languages. He expressed commitment to defend the cultures of Madhesi, Tharus, Muslims, indigenous people, and hilly community and work towards developing them with parity.
