KATHMANDU, OCTOBER 16

Finance Minister Prakash Sharan Mahat has laid emphasis on the need of collective efforts from all sides as efforts of the government alone will not be effective in improving the country's economy.

At an official inauguration of Female Economic Journalists Association here today, Finance Minister Mahat said the government had expected support of all to improve the economy. "Signs of improvement in the country's economy has started to appear gradually. The initiatives of the government and finance ministry are not enough. All should make efforts from their respective places for the same," he mentioned.

"Let's work with collective determination to improve the economy. The finance ministry is ready to remove obstacles," he said.

"The government has been making maximum efforts to improve the economy and positive results have started to appear," he said. He pointed out the need of empowerment of women for socio-economic development of the country. He also shared that participation of women would be increased in every sector and that their participation had increased in different sectors like health and education after adopting the concept of inclusive development.

Similarly, FEJA Chair Sharmila Thakuri said FEJA was established with the objective of playing a coordinative role for skill and capacity development of women journalists working on the economy beat.
