JEETPUR: A person died after the bicycle she was riding on was struck by a tractor in Taulihawa, of Kapilvastu Municipality in Kapilvastu district on Monday evening.

The deceased has been identified as a local Babita Gupta (18).

The incident occurred when the tractor (Lu 3 Ta 2145), en route to Bhairahawa of Rupandehi from the area hit the bicycle coming from the opposite direction at Bank Road yesterday, injuring Gupta who was returning home from college, informed police.

Critically injured Gupta was rushed to the Bhairahawa Medical College where she succumbed to her injuries during the course of treatment the same evening, informed Deputy Superintendent of Police, Prahalad Adhikari at the District Police Office, Kapilvastu.

Meanwhile, the driver of the vehicle has been detained for further investigation, said police.
