Jhapa, April 11

A team deployed from the regional office of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority, Itahari carried out a raid on the office of Chandragadi Community Forest Users’ Committee in Bhadrapur today.

The anti-graft team raided the office of forest users’ committee after a news was published that the committee was selling saal timber illegally.

The CIAA team led by Section Officer Ganesh Adhikari seized the documents from the committee’s office with the help of staffers of the District Forest Office, Jhapa.

Section officer Adhikari said that the CIAA team seized the documents, including bill vouchers, financial reports and minutes and started investigating them. Adhikari said that the community forest users’ committee had been selling timbers as firewood and thereby violating the forest regulation.

The team inspected the timber and firewood kept at Khadka Timber Mill and Sekhar Timber Mill.
