LAMJUNG: The ‘Community-Police Partnership’ campaign being conducted in the district by District Police Office, Lamjung has been yielding positive results.

The initiative, which involves carrying out awareness programmes in schools and communities, has controlled criminal incidents and other social ills, said chief at Lamjung District Police Office, Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Rabindra Man Gurung.

‘Community-Police Partnership’ programme was launched by Nepal Police countrywide on October 28, 2018, and then was followed by Lamjung Police with the motive of bringing awareness, controlling criminal activities, and ensuring security.

Likewise, Lamjung Traffic Police has been giving training and carrying out health check-ups for drivers of long-distance vehicles to control road accidents, said chief of District Traffic Police Office, Lamjung, Chhaba Bahadur Gharti.

Gharti shared that the campaign has become effective because of the programmes being carried out by the police that address various social ills such as domestic violence, child marriage, polygamy, sexual harassment, among others.

Moreover, in order to take the campaign forward, the district police have formed a mechanism to carry out the programme at all local levels.
