Former Councillor of Foxton City in London, Dhan Kiran Gurung, has announced he plans to establish computer lab in all the community schools of Mechinagar Municipality.
Gurung, a resident of Kakadbhitta of Mechinagar Municipality, is a retired British Gurkha soldier. Currently, he resides in London.
He is chairperson of Gurkha Memorial Fund formed in London. Gurung is the first Nepali citizen to be appointed the Councillor of Foxton City in London.
At a programme organised by Gurkha Memorial Foundation Nepal at Kakadbhitta, Gurung, who is currently on a visit to Nepal, announced he would help establish a computer lab in all the community schools of Mechinagar Municipality in order to facilitate computer education in government schools.
He said that a project to establish computer lab in the community schools of Mechinagar Municipality would start from 2024 and preparation was under way to that end. A sister relation has already been established between Mechinagar Municipality and Foxton City of London at Gurung's initiative.
Four years ago, the fund, at the initiative of Gurung, had been utilised for establishment of a computer lab at Kakadbhitta Higher Secondary School. Thirty-one computers and CCTVs had been set up then.
