Complaints galore at CIAA Pokhara office

POKHARA: The Pokhara-based region office of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA) received 1,893 complaints in last fiscal year.

Among the lodged cases, only 1,062 have been solved while 831 are pending, according to Bhattarai.

Of the total cases, 773 are related to education.

CIAA regional office spokesperson Narendra Prasad Bhattarai informed that cases regarding health services and local administration are also high in number.

Most complaints in the education sector are about teachers with fake certificates, recruitment of under-qualified teachers and financial irregularities at management committees of schools.

Likewise, in health sectors, complaints are filed about irregularities in purchase of medicine and recruitment of new staff.

Irregularities in social security allowances, taking inducement from contractors for works and fake bills of construction materials are the issues related local administration.
