Conflict-hit gherao Rautahat DAO
Rautahat, July 8:
People displaced during the insurgency today gheraoed the district administration office for two hours demanding immediate relief for them.
They accused the local administration of not providing them with relief because of the fear of the Maoists.
As many as 75 people, who have been living in the district headquarters Guar after being displaced from their villages due to intimidation by the Maoists, said they were forced to take such a step, as they failed to receive the relief sent by the government.
Former vice chairman of the Maryadpur village development committee Nagendra Yadav and another displaced person Gagan Baitha said the displaced people lived difficult lives without the relief sent by the government.
They warned of stern agitation if they did not receive the relief and if an environment conducive for them to return home were not created.
The gherao was withdrawn only after chief district officer Shiva Prasad Nepal assured them that their legitimate demands would be met soon.
