Conflict-hit move SC
Kathmandu, March 2:
The Maoist conflict victims today filed a Public Interest Litigation in the Supreme Court seeking the apex court order to return their homes and property.
A group of 44 victims, including Liladhar Bhandari, filed the petition on behalf of the Conflict Victim Farmers’ Welfare Society.
The petitioners have sought the apex court’s order to the government authorities — the Prime Minister’s Office and Cabinet, the Parliament, the Ministry of Home Affairs, the Ministry of Land Reform and Management and the Ministry of Peace and Reconstruction — to compensate the displaced family and to return their properties.
They claimed that the Maoists have violated their fundamental rights guaranteed by Articles 12, 13 and 19 of the Interim Constitution 2007.
