GAIGHAT: The District Administration Office, Udayapur has distributed relief support worth Rs 8.7 million to armed conflict survivors and family members of those who disappeared during the decade-long conflict.

The financial assistance was distributed through the local peace committees. A total of 87 conflict-affected families received the second installment of the support from June 11 to 20. Of them 81 includes those who lost their members in the conflict while six have their members missing, according to Udayapur CDO Krishna Chandra Ghimire.

The families who lost a member in the conflict have so far received Rs 400,000 of the Rs 500,000 announced by the government. The remaining amount will be distributed after the necessary budget is received from the centre, CDO Ghimire added.
