Congress fields Paudel from Kaski

Kathmandu, November 6

After a series of meetings over the past four days, the main opposition Nepali Congress today finalised candidates for the upcoming by-elections slated for November 30.

NC has decided to field Khem Raj Paudel from Kaski House of Representatives Constituency-2. Earlier, the decision had been delayed because of multiple claims for the seat, including from an influential youth leader Dhan Raj Gurung. The party decided to field Paudel after Gurung this morning decided not to contest election from the constituency.

The party has fielded Jeet Sherchan from Baglung Provincial Assembly Constituency-2, Keshav Acharya from Dang Provincial Assembly Constituency-3, and Krishna Bhandel from Bhaktapur Provincial Assembly Constituency-1.

The ruling Nepal Communist Party (NCP) has already finalised its candidates.

The by-elections will be held on November 30 for 52 vacant posts of people’s representatives,  one member of the House of Representatives, three Provincial Assembly members and 48 chiefs, deputy chiefs and ward chairs of local levels.
