‘Congress hindering coalition govt’

Pokhara, May 28

CPN-UML Chair KP Sharma Oli today accused the Nepali Congress of hindering the formation of a consensus government.

Speaking at a press meet organised by Press Chautari Kaski chapter in Pokhara, Oli stated that consensus government was a must to hold all three levels of elections and put an end to the prolonged political transition.

“Nepali Congress is doing everything possible to prevent the formation of a consensus government,” he said, adding that the NC was also provoking Rastriya Janata Party Nepal into ruining the election environment.

Oli said the second phase of civic polls should be held on June 15 at any cost. “We cannot and should not postpone the polls under any circumstances,” he said. He also accused the government of not being serious about holding the second phase of polls on the slated date. Stating that his party was not against the Madhesi people, Oli said the UML was ever ready to address the genuine demands of Madhesis.

He expressed confidence that Madhes-based parties would participate in the second phase of local level polls.
