Constitution has empowered women, says Deputy Prime Minister Mainali
Kathmandu, March 8
Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Women, Children and Social welfare CP Mainali has said the new constitution has stressed the empowerment of women by paving the way for them to reach top positions with gradual development of leadership.
Addressing a face-to-face programme organised by the Reporters’ Club on the occasion of the 106th International Women’s Day here today, DPM Mainali said the activities related to strengthening of women would help develop capable leadership.
On a different note, he suggested that the Nepali Congress ought to join the government, adding that the government wouldn’t change after the NC convention.
DPM Mainali said new agreements to open up the northern borders, trade diversification, and tourism, among others, would be reached with China during the upcoming China visit of Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli.
He added that the landlocked country should open all possible borders.
Similarly, Hishila Yami, a leader associated with the ‘new force’ urged the political parties to ensure women’s participation as guaranteed by the constitution in all government bodies.
