Construction of bus park in limbo in Udayapur

GAIGHAT, JANUARY 1

Stipulated to be completed by mid-January, an under-construction bus park in Udayapur’s Gaighat is likely to miss the deadline.

As per sources, just over 30 per cent of work has been completed so far. Even though the contractor hasn’t expedited work citing different reasons including the COVID-19 situation, the authority concerned is said to have extended the contract in favour of the contractor recently.

“Though I’ve personally reported to the Urban Development Office of Saptari time and again regarding the inordinate delay in the construction of the project, the office too has been unresponsive to get the work done at a fast pace,” said ward chairperson Bikram Rai.

Rai accused the contractor for the negligence in completion of the project within the stipulated time.

“Neither the contractor nor the site in-charge comes to the site these days. When will the bus park be built amidst such delay?” Rai asked, adding that he had also reported the matter to mayor of Triyuga Municipality.

Raman/ISMD JV has been entrusted with the construction of a model bus park at the cost of Rs 122.5 million in 5 bigha land on the banks of the Triyuga river in wards 3 and 12 of Triyuga Municipality.
