Construction of Kailali's strategic road moving at snail's pace

DHANGADI: Work on Kailali's strategic road that connects the Nepal-India border is moving at a snail's pace. Slow pace of the road construction has raised concerns as the project is expected to be completed within the next four months.

The length of Chandanchauki-Phoolbari-Chaumala road is 32 kilometres. Presently, contract has been given for the construction of 14 kilometres of the road. However, the construction work is not moving ahead as per expectation.

Contract was signed to release a budget of Rs 18 crores for construction of the 14-kilometre road section.

According to Bishambhar Yadav, construction engineer at Nagarjun Construction, only 40-45 per cent of work has been completed in the duration of 16/17 months.

Upgradation of the road section is expected to ease the commute of those travelling from the Postal Highway to East-West Mahendra Highway, said Road Division Office, Kanchanpur.
