Contempt case against GPK pending

Kathmandu, December 11:

The Supreme Court is yet to examine the four-year-old contempt case against former Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala.

Though the case was placed before a division bench of Justices Damodar Prasad Sharma and Rajendra Prasad Koirala today, the bench did not conduct the hearing, citing the lack of time.

Advocate Prakash Mani Sharma, on behalf of the Pro-Public, had filed the case against him after the former prime minister accused the SC of issuing verdict under the pressure of the then royal palace.

After the SC told him to attend the CIAA or face actions, Koirala had asked a transfer of the SC inside the Palace. The CIAA had summoned him to face inquiry based on the report of the High-Level Probe Commission on Property while Koirala filed a writ petition in the SC against the CIAA investigation.
