CHITWAN: Classes and other activities at the central campus of Agriculture and Forestry University in Rampur, Chitwan have been disturbed yet again.

The university has been locked down time and again in the past year. During the period of one year, the institution has been locked down for over six months, on and off.

On April 4, some university students misbehaved with the Assistant Dean of Agriculture Faculty of the university, Bishnu Raj Ojha, by smearing his face with soot.

As a result, the Democratic Professors' Association carried out a protest with a demand to take strict action against the students involved in the act, said Registrar of the University, Mann Raj Kolaakshyapati.

Six alleged students have been suspended for two months, following which the All Nepal National Free Students’ Union (ANNFSU) locked down the university purposely.

Though the lockdown by ANNFSU was dropped two days ago, classes and other activities at the university remained affected as the Professors' Association have continued their protest citing lack of proper action, said Kolaakshyapati.

Earlier, studies at the university had been affected when students and professors alike had protested the university's decision to provide affiliation to private colleges on July 4, 2018.

And now, the fresh protests have compromised regular classes and hampered the functioning of the university in an extreme manner.
