Contractors urged to manage traffic congestion

  • Deposits to be seized if companies fail to comply

Dolakha, July 22

Lamosanghu-Tamakoshi-Jiri Road Planning Office has instructed the construction entrepreneurs concerned to take steps to ease traffic on the Lamosanghu-Charikot road section, which is being upgraded.

The office, which is under the Road Improvement and Development Project, issued a notice today asking contractors to manage traffic congestion in three days, as per the contract.

The notice has warned that it will foreclose the deposit and break the contract if the companies fail to comply with the terms and conditions of the contract.

Two companies, namely Simanchal-Gauriparbati-Sunaulakhimti JV Naya Baneshwor and Shakil-Haidar-Shankarmali-Sunaulakhimti JV Kathmandu have been entrusted with the upgradation of Lamosanghu-Mude and Mude-Charikot road sections respectively.

“It goes without saying that the onus of ensuring vehicular movement falls squarely on the contractors. However, the companies have not given us two hoots despite our frequent instructions. This is not going to work,” said the Road Planning Office Chief and Road Division Office Dolakha Chief Dharmendra Jha.
