Coordination among three tiers of government stressed
Hetauda, May 22
Minister for Federal Affairs and General Administration Lalbabu Pandit today said the confusion regarding operation of the provincial government and local government would be sorted out after the federal government presents the budget for fiscal 2018-19.
At the closing ceremony of a two-day meeting of Province 3 Provincial Coordination Council in Hetauda today, Minister Pandit said the budget would clarify the distribution of employees, budget and revenue. “There must be proper coordination among all three levels of the government for sustainable development,” said Minister Pandit.
Stating that people’s representatives were facing problems in carrying on with everyday business due to lack of law, he said a sample law had been drafted and sent to the provinces and local levels for the time being. “We have to carry on everyday business by managing with interim law,” said the minister. He underscored the need to respect the people’s mandate and abide by the law.
Minister Pandit also said that as many as 5,000 civil servants serving at the centre were transferred to the provincial and local levels. “All the offices in the province and local levels will be filled soon,” he assured. He stressed proper coordination and cooperation among people’s representatives and civil servants for service delivery. Hinting at the rift between the chiefs and deputy chiefs of local levels, he urged them to use their rights and carry on with their responsibilities honestly.
“The only mission of each province is development and prosperity and local level plays a critical role in achieving it,” said Pandit.
Chiefs and deputy chiefs of all the 119 local levels of Province 3 and District Coordination Committee chiefs and deputy chiefs of 13 districts of the province were present at the programme. The meeting of the council took 10 decisions.
