Cop dies in blast

MAHENDRANAGAR: One policeman died when a team of Armed Police Force from the Shaileshwori APF Battalion, Jhalari, were trapped in an ambush on Monday morning. The team was dispatched for clearing obstructions placed by the Maoists along the Mahendra Highway. APF constable Devraj Kathayat died on the spot while clearing the obstruction near the Chaudhar bridge at Daiji VDC of Kanchanpur district. Four others were also injured in the incident. Those injured include APF ASI Anant Wagle and constables, Rambahadur Saud, Anil Thakur and Ranjit Rijal. They are undergoing treatment in the Mahakali zonal hospital in Mahendranagar. The team defused five other bombs placed there, the Battalion said.
