A policeman deployed for the security of Panchthar district jail threatened to shoot a jail inmate on Saturday night.

“Policeman Jeet Bahadur Gurung, who was on duty suddenly started shouting at the prisoners using foul language and when inmate Indra Kamal Shrestha requested him to keep quiet, the cop pointed his gun on his head and threatened to shoot him,” prisoners said.

“All of us challenged the cop to shoot at us,” a jailbird, Nabin Thapa, said.

Deputy of Superintendent of Police at district police office Mukti Shrestha said they have launched an investigation into the case and that appropriate action would be taken against the cop if he is found guilty of misbehaving with the prisoner.
