Country now on path to economic prosperity, says FCAN President Singh

Kathmandu, November 16

President of Federation of Contractors’ Associations of Nepal Rabi Singh said Nepal was on the path to economic prosperity after achieving political stability.

FCAN President Singh said this while addressing the 44th convention of the International Federation of Asian and Western Pacific Contractors’ Associations held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.

He said the Government of Nepal was currently moving ahead with the slogan ‘Prosperous Nepal, happy Nepalis’ and the construction industry had an important role in achieving this mission. Political parties too fully support the idea that Nepal can achieve economic prosperity through infrastructure development, he added.

He said the government was working to upgrade the country to a ‘medium income’ status by 2030. “The government has prioritised public-private partnership concept for achieving its goal,” he informed.

Meanwhile, Nepali contractors Ramesh Sharma has been elected the first vice-president of IFAWPCA and Jaya Ram Lamichhane has been proposed as the general secretary. Sharma and Lamichhane are both former FCAN presidents and are its current advisers.

Similarly, Birendra Raj Pandey has been nominated as a board member of IFAWPCA. A delegation led by FCAN President Sing had gone to Malaysia last Monday to attend the convention.

The delegation is scheduled to visit Singapore and Indonesia also and observe the achievements made by these countries in the physical infrastructure development sector. The 46th convention of IFAWPCA is to be held in Nepal.
