Country to witness changes soon: Gajurel
BIRATNAGAR: Unified CPN-Maoist central secretary Chandra Prakash Gajurel today asserted that the country might soon witness some positive changes and his party will be leading the next government in the changed political scenario.
Addressing a press conference in Biratnagar on Wednesday morning, Gajurel said that government would collapse due to non-cooperation of those who had backed for its formation.
Stating that Prime Minister Madhav Kumar Nepal himself has hinted the government would soon collapse, Maoist hardliner, Gajurel said, “The Prime Minister has realised that his government is a major hurdle in statute-drafting and the peace processes.”
Claiming that UML-led government was counterproductive for its own party, Gajurel stressed that a new government under the leadership of his party was necessary. Gajurel expressed that formation of Constituent Assembly was his party's agenda. As the single largest party in the CA, Gajurel revealed that his party had speeded up the process of forming a new government to shoulder the historic responsibility of writing the statute by May 28.
He said, “Majority government is an alternative for us and we are ready for if consensus cannot be forged for national unity government.”
Gajurel warned of declaring people's constitution from the streets if rightists and regressive forces impeded promulgation of the statute by the deadline. He, however, ruled out the possibility of brief constitution.
