JANAKPURDHAM: Two persons of Duhabi VDC were beaten to death on Sunday for allegedly plotting to kidnap children.

According to Dhanusha police office, a woman and a man were lynched by the locals who alleged that the two were in the village to kidnap children. Both the bodies are yet to be identified and have been sent to Janakpur Zonal Hospital for post mortem.

Police detained 20 locals in connection with the lynching. Eight persons accused of kidnapping have been killed in the district so far.

According to SP Yadavraj Khanal, beggars and tramps were the main targets of the locals. The villagers started beating up the duo as a rumour spread that a group of kidnappers were active in the district.

However, no incident of child kidnapping in the district has been reported till now.
